Spiral of silence

The «Spiral of silence» is a mass communication theory proposed by Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann. The idea says that individuals fear being isolated or excluded from society due to individuals opinions. And so, individuals prefer to remain silent instead of voicing their opinion.
